Dr. Chad “SnaggleTooth” Carter leads Platte River Orthodontics with a heart for service, a commitment to excellence, and years of diverse experience—from physics research and military service to becoming a Board-Certified Orthodontist. His wife and partner, Amy Carter, brings her background in community service, military family support, and parenting to ensure the practice stays true to its family-centered values. Rounding out the team are Boone and Huck, their beloved bird dogs, who provide comfort, fun, and a warm welcome to every patient who visits.

Dr. Carter’s background is truly unique in the orthodontic profession. His journey from physics research to eight years as a volunteer in rural Africa, through military service with Air Force Special Operations, to becoming a board-certified orthodontist and international lecturer, has given him perspectives and skills that few orthodontists possess.

This diverse background translates directly into better patient care. The analytical thinking from physics research helps with complex treatment planning. The cultural sensitivity from years in Africa helps him connect with patients from all backgrounds. The discipline and precision from military service ensures the highest quality care. The teaching experience helps him communicate complex concepts clearly to patients and families.

Eight Years in Africa

Dr. Carter’s eight years as a volunteer in a rural village on the edge of the Sahara Desert in Burkina Faso, Western Africa, taught him lessons about compassion, patience, and service that profoundly influence his approach to patient care today. Living and working in a different culture, often with limited resources, taught him to be resourceful, creative, and always focused on the human element of healthcare.

This experience taught Dr. Carter that healthcare is about more than just technical procedures – it’s about understanding people, respecting their concerns, and providing care with dignity and compassion. These lessons are evident in every patient interaction at Platte River Orthodontics.

Military Excellence: Precision and Commitment

Dr. Carter’s service with the United States Air Force, including four years with Air Force Special Operations, instilled values and skills that directly benefit his orthodontic patients. Military service taught him the importance of precision, attention to detail, and unwavering commitment to excellence – qualities that are essential for successful orthodontic treatment.

The discipline and focus required for Special Operations translates directly to orthodontic care.
